What is FSSAI Third Party Audit ?
To enhance the food safety surveillance system nationwide, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has initiated audits of food business operators through third-party audit agencies.TEXA GLOBAL CERTIFICATION PVT LTD (TPL) is one such agency empanelled by FSSAI, in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards (Food Safety Auditing) Regulation, 2018.
FSSAI will engage these recognized auditing agencies to audit selected food businesses as determined periodically.
The food authority will specify, from time to time, which categories of food businesses are required to undergo mandatory audits. Food business operators not subject to mandatory audits but wishing to be audited can opt to do so through a recognized auditing agency, as outlined in Section 8(2) of the regulations. Audits conducted by recognized agencies will be considered compliant with the Food Safety and Standards (Food Safety Auditing) Regulations, 2018. For more information, visit: FSSAI Third-Party Audits.
Food businesses classified by the Food Authority for mandatory audits must ensure timely audits by recognized agencies. The Food Authority will announce the categories of food businesses subject to mandatory audits based on risk classification and audit frequency. This classification will consider factors such as food type, intended customer use, nature of the business activity, business volume, processing methods, and any other criteria set by the Authority.
Food businesses not required to undergo mandatory Food Safety auditing may still choose to pursue voluntary audits for their operations.
